The Cred-Rahul Dravid TVC
Debates and discussions are raging over the Cred-Rahul Dravid TVC.
I’d like to bring another issue to the fore.
A scene cannot be constructed by random cuts of someone shouting, even if that someone is Rahul Dravid and the point of the Ad Film is the shouting itself.
There must be a flow, a logic, call it a logical flow.
So,
Something unsavoury happens in the midst of the choc a block traffic
Rahul Dravid shouts, quite against his character
The opposite guy shouts back
A lady intervenes and provides a sane, reasonable solution which everyone likes.
Instead of getting pacified, Rahul Dravid flares up even further, and abuses the lady
This turns the entire crowd against Rahul Dravid
Three cuts of people protesting, asking Rahul Dravid to be reasonable and calm down
Rahul Dravid completely loses his cool. Goes ballistic against the 3 people
End with ‘Main Indiranagar ka gunda hoon’.
Coming to the content of the Film, there must be a comeback to the first guy, sort of like, “See what I meant.”
Not doing so implies that you have gone to someone’s house and left without saying goodbye.
To end this piece, we all know too well that ridiculous films become superhits and earn pots of money, so why suggest that what is popular is necessarily sensible.
I'd very much like to know what you think of this.
