How to find out if the phone you've ordered online is ๐†๐ž๐ง๐ฎ๐ข๐ง๐ž ๐จ๐ซ Fake?

An unfortunate flipside of the ecommerce economy is that it has spawned fakes.

I have been sent fakes thrice, and I am hardly a big buyer.

Hereโ€™s a handy tip which I figured out some time ago.

It'll help you figure out if the phone you have bought online is genuine or counterfeit.

Immediately as you receive your phone, you must check the IMEI number.

The IMEI number is printed in 3 or 4 places:

โ€ข On the box

โ€ข At the back of the phone

โ€ข Inside the phone when you open the cover

Most important is the IMEI number that presents itself when you type *#06#.

Obviously, the IMEI number in all 3 or 4 places all must be the same.

If they arenโ€™t, this is a clear red flag.

In case of a dispute, the IMEI number your ecommerce seller would want to know is the IMEI number which presents itself when you type *#06#.

The suggestion is, as soon as you receive the phone, take a screenshot of this number and mail it to the customer care of the respective ecommerce / mobile company.

They can quickly tell you whether the phone is genuine or counterfeit.

Since the return period is usually about 10 days, you can ask the ecommerce seller for a return and refund.

What has been your experience? Do you agree?

Or this is quite obvious?
